Danica Patrick's run at Indianapolis 500 History

Woman at Indy 500. So liberating. Incredible looks and fast corners too. Can she win today's race ?

|Twenty-three-year-old Danica Patrick, the only woman in the 33-car lineup and only the fourth female to race in the big event at the Brickyard in its 89-year history, is squarely in the spotlight heading into the 500-mile race.

``If she wins, it could mean so much to the IRL and the whole open-wheel sport,'' said Tony Kanaan, the pole winner and the reigning Indy Racing League champion. ``That's a lot of weight for a little girl to carry on her back.''

It seems, so far, that the 5-foot-2, 100-pound ``girl'' in question is up to the task. She possesses a tremendous amount of grit, determination and focus, commanding an intense presence and often firing steely glances at the phalanx of reporters and fans that follows her everywhere she goes.

The former high-school cheerleader isn't all business, though. She has been known to smile and even giggle at times.

``I like to have fun, too,'' she said. ``But I put all that away when I'm in my race car or talking with my engineers.''

Oh, and another thing: She's fast.

Patrick has been among the quickest drivers since rookie orientation began on the famed 2 1/2 -mile oval on May 5. Only a bobble on the first lap of her qualifying effort kept her from winning the pole, and she will take the green flag from fourth on Sunday, the best starting position for a woman at Indy.

Patrick was fastest with a lap of 225.997 mph to lead the one-hour ``Carb Day'' practice on Friday, the only time the cars got on the track during the week between the end of time trials and the start of the race. |

Jessica Simpson Shoots Racy Video ala Paris Hilton Style

Jessica Simpson at the Dukes of Hazzard set

|Jessica Simpson is set to send temperatures soaring in the video for her new track These Boots Are Made For Walkin', by stripping into a skimpy pink bikini. In scenes reminiscent of Paris Hilton's controversial commercial for US burger chain Carl's Jr, the Irresistible singer is seen soaping up a car as she writhes around and shows off her curves to the updated beat of the Nancy Sinatra classic - which she recorded with country legend Willie Nelson.

Simpson also sports a Harley-Davidson t-shirt and short denim cutoffs in the clip, which was shot in the character of her role as Daisy Duke in her upcoming comedy Dukes Of Hazzard.|

Scary Blackamail Trojan Virus - Trj.PGPCoder.A

MADRID, May 25, 2005 - PandaLabs has recently reported the appearance of a type of malware that encrypts files on the infected computer and then asks for a fee in order to release these files. This is a new type of behavior, rarely seen until now, and to which the FBI in the United States are now alert.

The malware in question, Trj.PGPCoder.A, is a Trojan, and as is usual in these cases, cannot propagate by itself. Once installed on a computer, it creates two registry keys: one to ensure it is run on every system startup, and the second to monitor the progress of the Trojan in the infected computer, counting the number of files that have been analyzed by the malicious code.

Once it has been run, the Trojan embarks on its mission, which is to encrypt, using a digital encryption key, all the files it finds on computer drives with extensions corresponding to those listed in its code. These extensions include DOC (Microsoft Word documents), HTML (web pages), JPG (images), XLS (Microsoft Excel spreadsheets), ZIP and RAR (two common compressed file formats).

The blackmail is completed with the Trojan dropping a text file in each directory, with instructions to the victim of what to do. An email address is supplied through which users are supposed to request for their files to be released after paying a ransom of $200.

To prevent infection from Trj.PGPCoder.A or other malicious code, Panda Software advises all users to keep their antivirus software up-to-date. Panda Software has already made the corresponding updates to detect and eliminate this new malicious worm available to clients.

Panda Software's clients can already access the updates for installing the new TruPrevent(tm) Technologies along with their antivirus protection, providing a preventive layer of protection against new malware. For users with a different antivirus program installed, Panda TruPrevent(tm) Personal is the perfect solution, as it is both compatible with and complements these products, providing a second layer of preventive protection that acts while the new virus is still being studied and the corresponding update is incorporated into traditional antivirus programs, decreasing the risk of infection.

In order to help as many users as possible scan and disinfect their computers, Panda Software offers Panda ActiveScan, free of charge, at http://www.pandasoftware.com. ActiveScan is also available to webmasters that want to include it on their websites.

Paris Hilton Carl Jr Burger Video Ad

Paris Hilton Carl's Jr Burger Video Ad

Paris Hilton, who rose to infamy on the strength of an amateur video that never appeared in theaters or on TV, has shot a commercial for Carl's Jr. It honestly doesn't look that bad, though I'm basing my judgment entirely on a 5 second clip as opposed to the full 30 second commercial that will air tomorrow on Entertainment Tonight. And I'm sure the super-full 60 second version will feature Paris performing actual penetration with the car and maybe an anal scene with the hamburger. Video of Paris Hilton's Carl's Jr commercial after the jump.

Paris Hilton's Spicy Television Commercial

‘A new advertisement for a burger chain starring the hotel heiress Paris Hilton may be never be seen on television because it is too raunchy to be broadcast.

Hilton has already filmed the spot for burger chain Carl’s Jr, which was created by the Los Angeles ad agency Mendelsohn/Zien. In it, she is shown soaping a car, with hoses suggestively shooting water everywhere. It ends with her eating a bite of burger and saying “That’s hot".

Jackie Chan - The Myth movie. 58th Annual Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France

.

Jackie Chan - The Myth movie. 58th Annual Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France

Wow. That Mallika Sherawat is hot babe..

Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan, who seems as busy these days funding movies as starring in them, dreams of becoming China's answer to Steven Spielberg or George Lucas.

At the Cannes Film Festival to promote his latest movie "The Myth," the prolific martial arts hero said that, crucially, he has the backing of domestic banks and "tycoons" willing to help China's movie industry compete with Hollywood dominance.

"After China opened up all those years ago, they know how important the film industry is and the government helped a lot," he told Reuters Wednesday in an interview on the waterfront in the exclusive Riviera resort.

"There are a lot of big companies really supporting making movies. They know the power it has. Look at American film. American film is so successful, American culture is so successful.

"I think the Chinese government and the big tycoons, they know. There are so many tycoons, they ask me 'Jackie, here is 200 million, can you make ten films for me?"'

He did not specify whether he was referring to U.S. dollars or Chinese yuan, but explained that one advantage he had over his Hollywood rivals was that a film that would cost $150-200 million in America would cost $60 million to make in China.

"My goal is one day to be a Steven Spielberg, a George Lucas."

But it is not all about money.

"We have to have good quality. You have to (take) responsibility, you have to make a good quality movie."

"The Myth" is a $20 million China-funded production co-produced by Chan's JCE Movies Limited and the China Film Group Corporation.

FIA Changes Back to One Lap Format

I love racing but too many changes in the rules makes it a bore. Can't they make up their mind ? I guess the champagne is getting to their heads.

Formula One racing will change to a one-lap, one-session qualifying format from the European Grand Prix next weekend, the sport's ruling body announced on Monday.

Qualifying will take place on Saturday over a one-hour session, involving a single timed lap, the FIA said in a statement.

The controversial Sunday qualifying has been axed. Races so far this season have adopted an aggregate format with the grid decided by the times from Saturday and Sunday.

Sexual tension in the workplace

A little sexual banter in the workplace isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Sexualized encounters in some work situations actually can contribute to building camaraderie in a workforce, according to a study by a University of Washington-Bothell sociologist who examines sexual banter and power in the workplace.

The encounters can help create a sense of belonging and help people to have some control over their working conditions, says Kari Lerum, an assistant professor of sociology and interdisciplinary studies.

"Under the right conditions, sexual banter can help build camaraderie, and camaraderie is a positive thing for workers and the organization because if employees are happy and feel they belong they work harder and are more productive. This is not so much about sex, but about people being empowered and having ownership of their work life, " she says.

She says acceptable sexual tension and remarks are appropriate for some places of employment, such as a restaurant or nightclub. But that some type of behavior might be actionable, and employees can be fired, in an office type settings.

She stresses the importance of recognizing the boundaries of your workplace and knowing the difference between sexual banter and sexual harassment. Link

Courtney Van Dunk

Courtney Van Dunk

This US College Student Auctions Body on EBay.

WAYNE, N.J. - A 21-year-old college business major living in this northern New Jersey community has proven a basic lesson of marketing: Sex sells. Courtney Van Dunk posted a bikini-clad picture of herself on eBay about two weeks ago, auctioning off space on her body for advertisers.

The auction ended Thursday with a winning bid from a New Jersey wine retailer offering $11,300 for a month's worth of advertising. Van Dunk, though, says the offer has been retracted, but she's confident that she's made contacts with enough companies to still earn some cash.

When she finds a buyer, Van Dunk plans to place temporary tattoos on her abdomen while she's at the beach, or on other body parts when she's at the mall, sporting events, amusement parks and other public places. Her butt and chest are off limits.

"I got the idea from a marketing class I had that did a short segment on body advertising," Van Dunk said. "I was wondering how advertising could get through to our TV-savvy generation, and I thought this would be an excellent way to do it."

Van Dunk says the first round of bidding drew inquiries from as far away as Zambia. The Web site halted that auction because she had links to other sites promoting her efforts, so Van Dunk then held a second auction, which lasted seven days.

Van Dunk credits moderate exercise and healthy eating for the fit figure that has earned worldwide interest.

"We never ate a lot of fast food or greasy things growing up. My mom is an excellent cook. I really owe a lot to my parents for that," Van Dunk said.

Jessica Cutler Pics

Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) on Friday fired a young staffer for "unacceptable use of Senate computers" after she posted her sex diaries on the Internet and raised a hubbub of speculation last week: Who is this wicked woman that calls herself "Washingtonienne"? Was she really bedding six different men or making it all up? And who is the married, high-level federal employee she claims paid her $400 for a lunch-hour tryst?

First off, her name is Jessica Cutler. She's 24, holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from Syracuse University, once aspired to be a journalist and says she is not ashamed in the least of her behavior. "Everything is true," Cutler told us in an interview. "It's so cliched. It's like, 'There's a slutty girl on the Hill?' There's millions of 'em," she said, laughing. "A lot of my friends are way worse than me."

On Tuesday, Cutler was suspended from a staff assistant's position that paid $25,000 a year. Without identifying Cutler by name, DeWine said in a statement Friday afternoon that she had used Senate "resources and work time to post unsuitable and offensive material to an Internet Web log." Cutler admits she did. And a few hours after being sacked, she happily accepted our invitation to explain why she bared her intimate encounters for the world to see.

"If you don't like or care about your job, what's the big deal?" she said, explaining that her blog was a time-saving substitute for e-mailing friends. "I am so over it."

Sipping a strawberry Nesquik, she expressed amusement that her explicit diaries gripped the imaginations of Hill staffers and Web surfers all week. "It's amazing to me that people have any interest in such a low-level sex scandal. If I were sleeping with a congressman, maybe, but I'm a nobody and the people I'm writing about are nobodies."

A former intern in Sen. Joe Lieberman's office, Cutler said she had worked in DeWine's office since late February, routing mail and occasionally taking constituent calls. She started her blog May 10, posting such musings as: "Most of my living expenses are thankfully subsidized by a few generous older gentlemen. I'm sure I am not the only one who makes money on the side this way: How can anybody live on $25K/year??" She seemed blase about having six regular partners, telling us: "You know, there's seven days a week."

One diary entry described a "married man who pays me for sex" as "chief of staff at one of the gov agencies, appointed by Bush." That man, she claimed, paid her $400 on Tuesday for sex, but she declined to provide his name to The Post, saying, "I'm not trying to ruin his life." (On her blog she identified all the men by initials.)

In the interview, she described the $400 payment as "more like a gift than it was paying for a service" and wouldn't say how much money she has made for sex. "I don't want the IRS banging down my door."

Slim and 5 feet 2, she primped herself for photos ("I have good cheekbones. . . . I have good teeth") and said she would probably move to New York to find work because of her notoriety in Washington. She's setting her sights on the book publishing industry: "They'll totally hire me if I say I got fired from my job on the Hill because of a sex scandal."

This site has some Pics.

Paris Hilton's panic attack on new movie

Socialite Paris Hilton was so nervous filming her big screen debut in horror film House Of Wax she had a panic attack.

The aspiring actress joined Elisha Cuthbert and Chad Michael Murray in Queensland, Australia to film her small role as serial killer victim Paige last year.

Hilton recalls: "Oh my God! I had a panic attack when we started shooting House Of Wax. It was a night shoot and I was so nervous.

"Elisha calmed me down."

Despite her usual confidence, Hilton admits she was insecure about her body as she stripped for a sexy scene.

She says: "I had to undress for one scene. I was like: 'I don't like my body.'"

Paris Hilton House of Wax Movie

paris hilton house of wax premiere

Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert star in a remake of the 1953 3-D flick, ‘House of Wax.’ Cuthbert’s character, Carly, and her friends do what young people are supposed to do in a scary movie: They go on a road trip, travel on back roads and fall victim to the deranged locals. After the group camps out for the night, Carly’s boyfriend, Wade, realizes he needs a part for his car, so he and Carly hitch a ride to the town of Ambrose, with its famous House of Wax. The figures in this museum aren’t what they seem, and Carly and Wade become the targets of Bo, the creepy gas station owner, and Vincent, his creepier twin brother who’s also a sculptor. When their friends try to find them, they naturally become toast, too. 1 hour, 45 minutes.

Jennifer Connelly

Jennifer Connelly

Jennifer Connelly was born December 12, 1970, in Catskill Mountains, New York, to parents Gerard, a clothing manufacturer, and Eileen, an antique dealer.

Although she claims she was tiny and mousy as a child, she was certainly pretty enough to appear in magazines such as Seventeen at the age of 10, after a friend of her father's recommended that she model.

Signed with Ford models, Jennifer did her share of print and television before appearing in front of cameras as an actress. While a student at St. Ann's School, she landed a role as a young Elisabeth McGovern for a flashback sequence in the mobster film, Once Upon a Time in America, starring Robert De Niro.

Balancing work and school, Jennifer attended Yale and then transferred to Stanford, but decided to make acting her number one priority when she was cast in the lead of Disney's The Rocketeer. The movie not only skyrocketed Jennifer to new heights, but it also led to a long-term romance with her co-star, Billy Campbell.

In 1995, Jennifer was cast as a lesbian in Higher Learning, co-starring Tyra Banks, and the following year she appeared in Mulholland Falls and starred in Far Harbor.

The green-eyed beauty then had a streak, with 1997's Inventing the Abbotts, as Liv Tyler's sister, and less commercial films like Dark City, Waking the Dead, the critically-acclaimed Requiem for a Dream, in a convincing turn as a heroine addict, and Pollock.

Jennifer tried her hand at television, with a starring role in the poorly rated The $treet, and although it was canceled, Jennifer became a star with her supporting role in A Beautiful Mind, opposite Russell Crowe. She is also busy raising her son, Kai (the fruit of her relationship with photographer Dave Dougan), as a single mother.

Her acting talents were finally recognized as she was nominated for a Best Supporting Female Independent Spirit Award for her role in Requiem for a Dream. Jennifer finally received her much-deserved recognition with Best Supporting Actress trophies at the 2002 Golden Globe and Oscar award shows.

Jennifer Connelly will next appear in the Ang Lee directed film adaptation, The Hulk.

Helena Paparizou. Eurovision Song Contest 2005 Winner (21 May)

Greece has won the 50th Eurovision song contest in Kiev as singer Helena Paparizou thrashed the competition, triumphing over contestants from 23 other countries with her song "My Number One."

The news was greeted with scenes of joys in Athens, where hundreds of people celebrated on the streets of the Greek capital.

Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko, who attended the songfest with his family, handed Paparizou the Eurovision award.

Clad in a short golden dress, Paparizou, who was born and raised in Sweden, gave an energetic performance which included elements of a traditional Greek national dance.

Paparizou, who was elected by television viewers from 39 countries, won with 230 points, 38 points ahead of Malta's Chiara, who placed second with the song "Angel."

Helena Paparizou was born to Greek parents Volos and Karditsa in Sweden where she grew up. Helena's artistic talents and eagerness to excel very early became apparent, and she was soon involved in singing, dancing and acting. As she wanted to develop her talents, Helena began her training in these arts even while she was still at school.

Quite naturally, "Anapandeetes Klisis" became a major hit and remained at the top of airplay charts as well as the sales charts for a very long time, reaching gold status.

During the winter season of 2003-2004, Helena appeared beside one of Greece's biggest male singers, Antonis Remos, at Studio Pireos night club. In spring 2004, she released her first personal album "Protereotita" (Priorities) from which "Antithesis", "Anamnisis", "Katse Kala" and "Stin kardia mou mono thlipsi" became major hits. Her major success brought her to Fever music night club for the winter season 2004-2005 alongside of Sakis Rouvas and Giorgos Mazonakis.

Wireless credit cards by JP Morgan

Contactless cards are going mainstream in USA. Sounds cool. In Japan, you can even pay for stuff with your mobile. And in Malaysia, there's also the Visa Wave cards where you just wave and pay.

| Visa made the technology available earlier this spring and today J. P. Morgan Chase announced that it will be one of the first issuers of the new credit cards under the nomenclature "blink." Morgan intends to issue "millions" according to a J. P. Morgan spokesperson.

While there is no ceiling on the dollar amount of a purchase you can make using a contactless card, purchases up to $25 do not even require a signature.

Perhaps in order to avoid interference with your wireless phone, your WiFi handheld and the wireless RFID chip in your sweater, the cards do require a buyer to be no more than four inches away from the wireless reader. |

Kendra Todd - Winner of Apprentice Season 3

Kendra Todd

NEW YORK (May 20) - Donald Trump selected Kendra Todd as his first female ''Apprentice,'' handing her a job with his organization and a $250,000 salary at the close of the NBC reality show's live finale Thursday night.

''I couldn't be happier,'' Todd told The Associated Press after her win. ''I was the girl who used to watch this on television and here I am. Dreams do come true. Just work hard and you'll get there.''

Todd, the 26-year-old ''book smarts'' real estate broker from Boynton Beach, Fla., bested ''street smarts'' entrepreneur and mother of two Tana Goertz during the final boardroom battle.

Goertz, 37, of Des Moines, didn't go down without a fight. She assertively pointed out in front of the live audience that a winning idea for a round Pontiac brochure during one of the tasks was her idea although Todd was the task's project manager.

''I thought it was a little much,'' Trump said of Goertz's self-acknowledgment. ''I don't mind aggression in men or women, but I found it to be a little obnoxious. I didn't love it.''

Todd said she had been expecting Goertz to bring up the brochure.

''I was pretty sure that was going to happen,'' Todd said. ''Believe me, I had my strategies in line. I knew everything that they might come at me with. I am a team player. I give credit where credit is due. ... (But) certainly there's more to a brochure than just the shape.''

In episodes leading up to the live finale, Todd organized the Best Buy Video Game Championship during her final task, pleasing both corporate sponsors and her misfit team of firees. Todd, who was a member of ''book smarts'' Magna team, has an undergraduate degree in linguistics from the University of Florida.

Todd won't have to go too far from home for her new job. She chose developing a mansion in Palm Beach, Fla., over working on the Miss Universe pageant. Trump said he'd like Todd to train under his adviser Carolyn Kepcher at the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., for a few months before tackling the Palm Beach mansion.

(Boynton Beach, FL) Real Estate Broker. Kendra Todd , 26, is an ambitious and highly successful real estate entrepreneur. She obtained her undergraduate degree in linguistics from the University of Florida, and upon graduation became the founding Editor-in-Chief of an award-winning lifestyle magazine in South Florida...

Kendra Todd went on to obtain her real estate license, and incorporated her media expertise into the development of My House Real Estate, Inc. an innovative real estate marketing company specializing in condo conversions and land acquisitions. My House Real Estate, Inc.'s marketing strategies are virtually unparalleled, and have generated involvement in some of Florida's most sought after real estate. Kendra is currently one of the highest producing real estate agents in the marketplace. Additionally, she is "Special Agent 53" on My House, Florida's #1 real estate investment talk radio show on Clear Channel radio.

I won 2 Million Euros in a Lottery

I just got an email stating that I won 2 million Euros. That means I can now retire and buy an island somewhere in the remote corners of the South China Sea. NOT !

I've read about this type of in the papers a few times already and I'm not an internet-virgin. So I don't fall for this type of scam so easily. My first taste of internet came when I was working as a shop assistant back in 1996 and had just launched their pioneer Internet dial-up service in Malaysia. So that shows how much I've seen/read on the NET. SHeesh.... This scammers can't even send decently formatted emails. Only a fool would get caught. See below for the email sample. Whizzinator , the prosthetic penis

This is scary stuff. What else can they come up with ?

A life-like prosthetic penis called the Whizzinator and other products promising to help illegal drug users pass urine tests has provoked US lawmakers to take legal action with subpoenas of manufacturers.

Some more news found here

| Probationers are trying to beat drug and alcohol tests by using a device that delivers a clean urinalysis test, officials said.

"The Whizzinator" looks like an athletic supporter that has a plastic penis attached to it and has a trigger that releases clean, stored urine.

Bexar County officials recently discovered the latest trend to beating the system when a probationer was caught wearing the device.

"He noticed something a little strange while he was patting him down," said Cynthia Bradley of the Bexar County Urinalysis Lab. "It was a bit bulky, a little bulkier than usual."

Bexar County Chief Probation Officer Caesar Garcia said the county averages 5,200 urinalysis tests a month that are a condition for probation.

A positive test usually means time in jail.

Garcia said a 23-year-old man was arrested Monday after he was found wearing the $150 device, which can be purchased on the Internet.

"We knew there was some problem," Garcia said, "and sure enough we examined him, and looked at him, and we did find he was wearing a Whizzinator." |

has been sold for 1 Billion. Reminds me of that time when domain names were a rage and Business.com was even sold for 1 Million. Anybody wants to buy my domain at TheSMSGuide.com for 1 Million ? Going once, twice..

New Citibank / OSK-UOB Unit Trust Management Product

Citibank Introduces Investment Product To Help M'sian Investors

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- To assist Malaysian investors to further broaden their investment horizon, Citibank is introducing an investment product with OSK-UOB Unit Trust Management that provides local investors exposure to selected Asia Pacific stock markets.

In a statement here Wednesday, Citibank said that the product is an affordable, easy to understand and hassle free investment avenue that is available immediately.

Head of Citibank Branch Banking Products, Charles Sik, said that the move would reconnect Malaysians back into global financial markets and open up fresh opportunities and options.

"Citibank depositors and investors may benefit from the potential for improved returns at potentially lower risk, plus have more investment choices and value added which global expertise, research and innovation can bring," he said.

Industry analysts expect onshore (and offshore) financial institutions in Malaysia to begin introducing more alternative investment products to residents over the coming months.

A Citibank research of risk and return analysis of various Asian indices suggest that between 1991 to 2004, a diversified basket of Asia Pacific equities excluding Japan have provided more attractive returns at lower risk compared to fully invested in Malaysian equities.

According to Citigroup analysts, Asia Pacific equities also offer attractive valuations, positive earnings growth, rising free cash flow and among the highest dividend yields in the world.

It said that Asia Pacific region also provides great economic potential -- home to over two billion people, -- rich economic and natural resources with the world's two fastest growing economies namely China and India.

Micheal Dell and his Red Hat USD 100 Million investment

RALEIGH - Founder and Chairman of Dell, Inc. Michael Dell has given $99.5 million to Red Hat.

Billionaire Dell invested his own money in the Raleigh based Linux company.

The investment was made through MSD Capital L.P. in January 2004. Dell uses the investment firm to manage an estimated $10 billion of his wealth when investing in public companies, private investments and real estate.

While it could be a great endorsement for Red Hat, there is still speculation about whether Dell himself chose the company. MSD Capital's policy is not to discuss private investments.

Dell, Inc. does have a history of supporting Linux software. The company was one of the first to invest in Red Hat.

Dell is a 40-year old college dropout and a self-made billionaire. He created his wealth by building computers and selling directly to consumers. His current wealth is estimated at $16 billion by Forbes magazine.

Jennifer Lopez - Monster in Law

Jennifer Lopez is simply superb in her latest movie - Monster in Law.

Michael Vartan admits he didn’t sleep the night before his first day on the set of Monster-In-Law.

In this romantic comedy, Vartan plays Jennifer Lopez’s love interest and Jane Fonda’s son.

“Jennifer had had casting approval and she cast me, so that was in my favour, and I was pretty certain Jane Fonda didn’t even know who I was,” says the star of TV’s Alias.

“I wasn’t worried about me. I was worried they wouldn’t get along. They are two incredibly famous divas, so the odds were in favour of tension.”

Vartan, 36, says there was never a sign of rivalry or unrest.

“They were getting along famously, but instantly sensed how nervous I was and went out of their way to be nice to me and welcome me into the fold.”

Though he’d been acting for 11 years, Vartan’s first big film break came with 1999’s Never Been Kissed, where he played the school teacher with whom journalist Drew Barrymore falls in love.

“My doctor role in Monster-In-Law is the same guy, just six years later. I’ve really progressed in this film career thing.”

During his interviews for Never Been Kissed, Vartan felt he might not have a career in acting.

“I meant what I said. I wasn’t getting any film offers, but then Alias came along and changed all that.”

Vartan was raised in France by his father, but visited his mother who lived in L.A. each summer.

“When I was 18 she offered to pay for acting classes for me. It was never a career I’d considered, but it was better than having to find a job.”
